The F.I.T. Prescription for Physical Activity

How much you exercise depends on you and your unique situation. It does not have to be strenuous to gain health benefits. Any physical activity is better than none!

An easy way to remember how to be physically active is to follow the F.I.T. prescription for activity which is:

  • Frequency — Be active everyday or almost everyday. Just move more!
  • Intensity — Moderate and even low intensity activity is good for you. All levels of activity have health benefits. You can start slowly and gradually increase the intensity over time.
  • Time — Try to build to at least 30 minutes of moderate activity every day or nearly every day. You can do the activity all at once or split it up over the day.
